Shelby Cole Creations

Shelby Cole is an Illinois based ceramic artist and educator whose work lives at the intersection of clay, psychology, and playful curiosity. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 2012, completing all available ceramics coursework and independent studies alongside her degree. Shortly before graduating, she purchased her first kilns, marking a lasting commitment towards growing an independent studio. Shelby maintains an independent ceramics studio, works as a ceramics instructor at the Boys & Girls Club, and has served as a guest artist in settings ranging from rural elementary schools to community spaces. Her work intentionally pushes against traditional ceramic norms, blending sculptural form, humor, and conceptual inquiry to invite conversations about the body, perception, and the inner world. She is currently a graduate student in the Licensed Mental Health Counseling program at Loras College, where she is working toward integrating ceramics and creative process into her future mental health practice.
